Andrew Card, White House Chief of Staff
The Honorable Andrew H. Card, Jr. currently serves as Chief of Staff for the Administration of President George W. Bush. He is in charge of The White House staff, and participates in the full range of economic, domestic and foreign decisions.
Prior to his current post, he served as Vice President of Government Relations for General Motors, and from 1993-1998, as President and Chief Executive Officer of the American Automobile Manufacturers Association.
During former President George H. W. Bush's Administration, he was the 11th Secretary of Transportation and Deputy Chief of Staff to the President. Under former President Reagan, Mr. Card served as Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of Intergovernmental Affairs.
Secretary Card also served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 1975 to 1983. He graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering. In addition, Secretary Card attended the United States Merchant Marine Academy and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
