WASHINGTON, DC – Today the Sea Island Summit Planning
Organization announced details regarding media credentialing
for the Sea Island Summit 2004. The credentialing application
process will begin December 17, 2003 and will conclude March
15, 2004. In order to obtain a media credential to cover the
Sea Island Summit, there will be a two-step credentialing
procedure that all media must follow and complete. The G8
Summit will be held June 8, 9, and 10 in Sea Island, Georgia.
A Sea Island Summit media credential will allow members of
the media access to the International Media Center, transportation
during the Summit, and access to all OPEN media Summit events.
The two-step media credentialing process is as follows: Each
member of the media wishing to attend the Sea Island Summit
must submit a letter from the editor of their news organization
on company letterhead. Please fax all letters to the Sea Island
Summit using country code at +1 (202) 647-3299 with the following
information about the applicant: full legal name, organization,
title/position, email address, and phone number and fax number
with country code.
Next, after the Sea Island Summit Communications Office has
received, reviewed and approved the initial media credential
request on company letterhead, the Summit Planning Organization
will send information and instructions regarding the second
step of the media credentialing process to the email address
provided by the applicant. The following information must
be provided by each applicant: full legal name, name to appear
on credential, date of birth, gender, city and country of
birth, nationality, social security number and/or passport
number, home address, business address, news organization,
title/position in the news organization, and a passport-style
The information given below is to further assist media applicants
to develop arrangements to cover the Sea Island Summit:
Satellite Truck Parking:
Parking permits are required for all satellite and microwave
trucks for OPEN media events and the International Media Center.
Please indicate the number of satellite, microwave, or remote
trucks you plan to utilize throughout the Summit on the letter
from the Editor of your respective news organization.
Transportation to the Sea Island Summit:
Savannah International Airport is located approximately thirty
minutes from downtown Savannah. Limited taxi service is available
in Savannah. Rental cars are strongly discouraged due to limited
parking facilities, traffic congestion, and garage fees.
Accommodations will be assigned to all media attending the
Summit after all credentialing information has been submitted.
Summit Press Credentials:
Media will be able to pick-up their Summit media credentials
upon arrival in Savannah. The credential pick-up location
and hours of operation will be sent in advance to members
of the media that have been cleared to receive a credential.
