The International Media Center is located in the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center on the Savannah River. This facility is where the media will work and dine during the Summit. During the Summit, briefings by top government officials and interviews with domestic and international policy makers will be held in the International Media Center. Indoor/outdoor stand-up locations and access to audio and video feeds will be available at the IMC. The IMC will be open on a 24-hour basis beginning on Sunday, June 6, 2004.

Host Television

Fox News, on behalf of ABC, CBS, CNN, and NBC will serve as Host Television for the Sea Island Summit. Host TV will cover official Summit events live, beginning with the airport arrival ceremonies at Hunter Army Airfield on June 8. The primary broadcast transmission, workspace, and standup area will be at the International Media Center in Savannah. There will be a Media Sub-Center on Sea Island where Host TV will uplink coverage of Sea Island events, as well as any tapes from G8 country POOLS, local POOLS, and from any international or agency POOLS. Video of Savannah and Sea Island events will be distributed in the International Media Center and may also be downlinked by eligible broadcasters elsewhere. Host TV will work closely with Eurovision Americas (EBU) and will provide live or tape coverage of as many briefings and press conferences as possible. All Host TV feeds will be in NTSC format.

Media POOLS

All events on Sea Island are POOL press only. A POOL is a representative group of the whole media covering the Summit. Each G8 country is allowed to have a 14-member press POOL to cover events on Sea Island. The composition of each of the G8 country POOLS is determined by the country. For example, the German delegation determines the German POOL compositions. If you have questions about your participation in a G8

Country POOL, please contact your respective country's press officer. All POOL movements must originate in Savannah at the International Media Center. No press will be allowed on Sea Island unless they are part of the POOL movement that originates at the International Media Center. The Summit Planning Organization has created a local POOL to cover events on Sea Island. The local POOL will include media from the Atlanta, Brunswick, Jacksonville, and Savannah markets. All local POOL information will be posted at the International Media Center during the Summit.

Media Hotel Accommodations

Media hotel accommodations can be arranged through the Sea Island Summit Accommodations Office. Media that plan to attend the Summit but have not reserved hotel accommodations must do so as soon as possible as hotel rooms are limited in the Savannah area. Media can request hotel rooms by contacting the Summit Planning Organization via email at media.credentialing@g8usa.gov.

Transportation

Media arriving commercially into the Savannah International Airport must make their own transportation arrangements in advance to ensure transportation to their assigned hotel. The Sea Island Summit Planning Organization is not responsible for transporting members of the media to and from Savannah International Airport. The Savannah International Airport, on behalf of the Summit Planning Organization has created a reservation system to ensure that adequate transportation will be available upon your arrival to Savannah International Airport.  Therefore it is imperative for all media to make advance reservations for ground transportation to and from the Savannah International Airport.  A Shuttle Service will provide transportation from the airport to the hotels in Savannah 's Historic District and will also be stopping at the Summit Credentialing Center.  The price for this shuttle service is $20 each way. For media staying in hotels outside of the Historic District - it is still imperative for you to make reservations so that additional taxis can be called in to the airport.  Due to the anticipated number of passengers arriving, ground transportation may not be available without a reservation.

We recommend that you make your reservation immediately.
Reservations will not be accepted with less than a 72 hours notice.

Airport Ground Transportation Reservations

https://www.hudsonltd4.com/cgi-bin/sis1/res

Once you make your reservation, you can print a voucher / confirmation that you will present at the Information Desk at the Savannah Airport which is located at the base of the escalators on the baggage claim level. This reservation service is a combined effort of the Savannah International Airport Commission and the Summit Planning Organization.

Once in Savannah, the Sea Island Summit Planning Organization will provide transportation between media hotels and the International Media Center (IMC) by water taxis and Summit shuttle buses. Water taxis and Summit shuttle buses will run every 20 minutes, 24-hours a day beginning on June 7. To access water taxis and Summit shuttle buses, all media must have their Summit credential. We encourage all media to utilize the water taxis as much as possible as this will be the most efficient and direct mode of transportation to the International Media Center. Due to vehicle security sweeps expect delays arriving to the International Media Center via surface transportation.
