Listservs Now Available on Department of State Foreign Affairs Network
The Department of State Foreign Affairs Network's (DOSFAN) web site at
http://www.state.gov features current news and information, and the
gopher site archives online material available since 1993. DOSFAN has
just added a way in which you can automatically have information sent to
you via Internet email (listservs).
By subscribing to DOSFAN's new listservs, you can automatically receive
via email full texts of the press briefing as well as publications that
provide key official information on U.S. foreign policy. You also can
receive notifications of Foreign Travel Per Diem updates. The five
listservs are:
Secretary of State, Speeches/Testimonies -- DOSSEC
Briefings, Daily Press -- DOSBRIEF
Dispatch Magazine -- DOSDISP
Background Notes -- DOSBACK
Foreign Travel Per Diem -- DOSPDIEM
DOSBRIEF list. The State Department regularly conducts press briefings,
usually Monday through Friday. The Office of the Press Spokesman, Bureau
of Public Affairs, releases the texts of press briefings the same day
unless otherwise indicated in DOSFAN's daily press briefing calendar (at
http://www.state.gov/www/briefings/index.html); full texts of these
briefings are distributed via DOSBRIEF. You can expect the DOSBRIEF list
to generate about 4-5 email messages per week.
DOSSEC list. The Secretary of State regularly addresses various groups
and testifies before Congress. Full texts of Secretarial addresses and
remarks are disseminated by the Office of Public Communication, Bureau
of Public Affairs, for posting to the DOSSEC list as soon as they are
released. You can expect the DOSSEC list to generate about 3-4 email
messages per month.
DOSDISP list. The United States Department of State Dispatch is the
weekly magazine of official U.S. policy and is prepared by the Office of
Public Communication. It includes key speeches by the President and
Secretary of State and other senior officials as well as regular
listings of U.S. treaty actions. You can expect the DOSDISP list to
generate about 4-5 messages per month. Via DOSDISP you will receive the
full-text version of the most recent issue of Dispatch magazine.
DOSBACK list. Background Notes are updated periodically and include
information on U.S. bilateral relations with foreign countries and on
their governments, political conditions, and foreign relations. You can
expect the DOSBACK list to generate about 3-4 email messages per month.
Via DOSBACK you will receive the full-text version of newly released
Background Notes.
DOSPDIEM list. This list provides notification of updates to the Maximum
Travel Per Diem Allowance for Foreign Areas, Section 925, a supplement
to the Standardized Regulations (Government Civilians, Foreign Areas).
Foreign Travel Per Diem Rates are released monthly by the State
Department's Office of Allowances. Via DOSPDIEM you will receive monthly
notification of the availability of Travel Per Diem Rate updates at the
DOSFAN site.
To subscribe to any of the listservs for the above information, send an
