                 Korea--Visit by Assistant Secretary Lord  
  
  
 
Assistant Secretary for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Winston Lord will  
visit Seoul October 10-12 to consult with senior Republic of Korea  
government officials on a range of bilateral and international issues,  
including the ramifications of the recent submarine incident.  Assistant  
Secretary Lord will be accompanied by Ambassador Sandra Kristoff, Senior  
Director for Asian Affairs, National Security Council, as well as by  
Mark Minton, Director of the State Department Office of Korean Affairs
