STATEMENT BY Glyn Davies, Acting SPOKESMAN
State Department Hosts Minority Business Conference Sept. 11
Secretary of State Warren Christopher, Secretary of Commerce Mickey
Kantor, Energy Secretary Hazel OâLeary, and Acting U.S. Trade
Representative Charlene Barshefsky will address the Minority Business
Conference on ãOpportunities in International Business: U.S. Government
Resources for Minority Businesspeopleä to be held at the State
Department on September 11 in the Dean Acheson Auditorium.
The conference, open to the press, is designed to showcase the
Administrationâs efforts to reduce foreign barriers to American goods
and services, to promote U.S. trade and investment and to help minority
businesspeople obtain the information and assistance they need to take
full advantage of those opportunities.
The conference will feature opening remarks by Secretary Christopher
followed by presentations by Secretary Kantor and Ambassador Barshefsky.
The conference will also include panel discussions, workshops, and
breakout sessions on regional trade issues led by other senior
department officials, and will conclude with remarks by Secretary
OâLeary.
