Q: Can you give us a read-out of the meeting between State Department officials and President-elect Samper today in New York?

A: DEPUTY ASSISTANT SECRETARY MICHAEL SKOL AND DEPUTY ASSISTANT SECRETARY FOR INTERNATIONAL NARCOTICS MATTERS CRESENCIO ARCOS DISCUSSED WITH PRESIDENT-ELECT SAMRER A NUMBER OF ISSUES RELATING TO NARCOTICS COOPERATION AND EXPRESSED OUR CONCERNS OVER THE ALLEGATIONS THAT HIS CAMPAIGN MAY HAVE RECEIVED FUNDS FROM DRUG TRAFFICKERS. THE MEETING WAS FRANK, STRAIGHTFORWARD AND BUSINESS-LIKE, AND WE AGREED TO CONTINUE DISCUSSING THESE ISSUES

Q: What is the status of interim arrangement negotiations with Colombia and Peru on radar intelligence sharing?

A: Discussions with Colombia and Peru are continuing in an effort to arrive at mutually satisfactory interim arrangements.
