1. SOUTH KOREA Q: What can you tell us about the visit of South Korean Foreign Minister Han to the United States?

A: FOREIGN MINISTER HAN WILL VISIT WASHINGTON FROM FEBRUARY 10-13 AND 16-18 FOR A SERIES OF MEETINGS WITH SENIOR MEMBERS OF THE ADMINISTRATION, INCLUDING SECRETARY CHRISTOPHER ON FEBRUARY 11.

--THEY WILL DISCUSS A WIDE RANGE OF CONCERNS, INCLUDING THE NORTH KOREAN NUCLEAR ISSUE, OUR BILATERAL ECONOMIC RELATIONSHIP, AND VARIOUS TRADE ISSUES.

--FOREIGN MINISTER HAN WILL ALSO TAKE PART IN THE U.S.-KOREA TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY CONFERENCE LATE NEXT WEEK. THE CONFERENCE, CO-SPONSORED BY THE INSTITUTE FOR INTERNATIONAL ECONOMICS AND THE INSTITUTE FOR GLOBAL ECONOMICS IN SEOUL, WILL TAKE PLACE IN WASHINGTON FEBRUARY 17-19. ITS GOAL IS TO PROMOTE ONGOING DIALOGUE ON ECONOMIC ISSUES BETWEEN OUR TWO GOVERNMENTS AND BUSINESS COMMUNITIES.
