1.  THE NORTHEAST ASIA COOPERATION DIALOGUE

Q: Will anyone from the State Department be attending a
conference on security issues being held in California later
this week?  Who?

A:  PRINCIPAL DEPUTY ASSISTANT SECRETARY OF STATE FOR EAST ASIAN
AND PACIFIC AFFAIRS PETER TOMSEN WILL ATTEND THE OCTOBER 8-9
CONFERENCE, ENTITLED THE NORTHEAST ASIA COOPERATION DIALOGUE, IN
AN UNOFFICIAL CAPACITY.  THE CONFERENCE IS SPONSORED BY THE
UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN DIEGO'S INSTITUTE ON GLOBAL
CONFLICT AND COOPERATION.

2.  VIETNAM
Q:  Of the 44 sets of remains repatriated from Vietnam this
year, how many have been identified?

A:  TWO, SO FAR --THE DEFENSE DEPARTMENT'S CENTRAL
IDENTIFICATION LABORATORY IN HAWAII CONTINUES EFFORTS TO
IDENTIFY OTHER REMAINS REPATRIATED FROM VIETNAM.

DETAILS.


3.  RUSSIA
Q:  What specific medical supplies have been requested and what
are being supplied?

A:  THE UNITED STATES PROVIDED 4 PALLETS WITH ABOUT 140 CASES OF
IV FLUIDS (2 PALLETS OF RINGER SOLUTION AND 2 PALLETS OF SODIUM
CHLORIDE) TO NO. 6 MICHURINSKY PROSPECT RUSSIAN MEDICAL
DIAGNOSTIC CENTER.

--THESE PALLETS OF IV SOLUTION ARE ALL THE MEDICAL SUPPLIES THAT
WERE REQUESTED FROM OUR EMBASSY IN MOSCOW.
