Charge d'Affaires Linda Watt, a career Foreign Service Officer, arrived in the Dominican Republic as deputy chief of mission in September 1997. She assumed charge of the mission upon the departure from post of Ambassador Donna Hrinak in December 1997.

Ms. Watt joined the Department of State in 1976. Her overseas assignments include Managua, London, San Jose, Quito and Moscow. Prior to her assignment to Santo Domingo, Ms. Watt was the Deputy Director of the Executive Office in the Bureau of Inter-American Affairs.

Ms. Watt is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and holds an advanced degree from the University of New Mexico. Ms. Watt is married and has two children.
